Canada's Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) rules have undergone major structural updates under IRCC. Not every Designated Learning Institution (DLI) or diploma programme automatically qualifies for a post-study work permit.
Graduates of Master's, doctoral, and university bachelor's degree programmes remain eligible for a PGWP of up to 3 years (subject to language proficiency requirements such as CLB 7 in English for university graduates). However, non-degree college programmes must align with specific eligible fields of study linked to long-term labour shortages.
Before paying a Canadian tuition deposit or transferring your CAD $20,635 GIC, always verify PGWP eligibility on the official IRCC DLI list and confirm whether your programme requires a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL).
